     Illegal Dumping:  A Message from
Community By-law Enforcement Services
Community By-law Enforcement Services responds
to concerns about garbage and illegal dumping.
Our By-law Enforcement Officers work with
community groups to identify areas of concern,
and target enforcement efforts to hold offenders accountable.
Council recently approved fine increases for people and businesses who dump garbage where they are
not supposed to.  Fines range from a minimum of
$600 for individuals dumping garbage, to a minimum
of $2,000 for individuals who dump a large amount
of garbage, and a minimum fine of $1,200 for corporations, which increases to a minimum of
$4,000 for large-scale dumping by corporations.
If you see someone illegally dumping garbage or construction waste, you should contact 311 as soon
as possible to initiate an investigation.  Useful information to provide includes the time and date
of the act, what was dumped, a description of the individual(s), vehicle used, and license plate.

Speed Watch is looking for Volunteers!
Speed watch is an educational program that offers a proactive and local solution to community based
speeding issues, by using speed-reader boards.  The program is designed to help educate drivers about the actual speeds they are travelling, through the use of
speed-reader boards, prompting drivers to adjust their speed accordingly.  Speed watch is an excellent way
for all community members to participate, as it is not physically demanding.  If you are concerned about speeding traffic in the neighbourhood and want to
do something about it, this is the volunteer opportunity
for you!  Call Annette at 204-582-0988 for more info.
